At Chucktown Tours our most popular walking tours are our Charleston History Walking Tours This 2-hour walking tour through history starts at Waterfront Park and heads south to the famous Charleston battery. There we spend time relaxing in the shade of 300-year-old Live Oak trees as the cool ocean breeze keeps us comfortable – while we chat about the very colorful history of White Point Gardens and the early fort of Charles Town.
Always on the shady side of the street – we stroll up Meeting Street past its beautiful mansions, down several other history packed avenues revealing everything from slave markets, to massive churches, historic theaters, and even the very balcony George Washington stood on just 227 years ago as he addressed the people of Charleston.
Of course, along our walking tour we’ll see beautiful window boxes, antebellum homes, and no shortage of buildings where much of the history you read about in school actually happened. When we’re finished we’ll end up very close to where we started at waterfront park. None the worse for wear, and the proud new owners of the most valuable sightseeing souvenir you can take home from your trip – knowledge.
So, if you’ve traveled a long way to take that perfect sightseeing vacation, and you’ve ended up here in Charleston SC. We want to make sure you feel right at home with some southern hospitality, a smile, and great look at the history of our city by taking a walking tour of Charleston SC. We’ll do our best to make you feel right at home in the Holy City, as we explore the allies, narrow passages, and beautiful homes of the historic district, and make new friends along the way.
Whether you found us online, through Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, or some other travel site, we’re glad you did – after all, a walking tour is one of the best things to do in Charleston SC, and we look forward to showing you around our beautiful Charleston South Carolina!
Charleston isn’t known for its straight and level sidewalks – that’s why we don’t recommend wheelchairs and walkers on our walking tours.
We spend a lot of time sitting in the shade, but it can also be hot and humid in Charleston this time of year – in addition to comfortable walking shoes, you may want to bring a bottled water.
Chucktown Tours is the largest Airbnb Experience provider in the entire state of South Carolina!
